Note

Hotels in Mexico will be introducing an "Eco-Tax" effective immediately. This means that every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been implemented and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to have the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars with you.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased amount of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are of course endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local governments. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which can cause some noise.
