Hotels in Mexico will be introducing an "Eco-Tax." As a result, every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state on-site at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been implemented and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Destination information

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

For stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often recorded in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate a slight noise.
