Location

Set amidst tropical vegetation and on a kilometer-long sandy beach, the complex is approx. 25 minutes by car from Playa del Carmen and approx. 20 minutes by car from Tulum. The beautiful sandy beach is protected by an offshore coral reef. The Riviera Maya Golf Club is located within the resort. It is a place where families, in particular, feel at home.

The beautiful, large hotel complex features 720 rooms, 1 buffet restaurant, 4 specialty restaurants (gourmet, Mexican, Japanese, and Italian), 1 snack bar, 5 bars, 1 pool with integrated whirlpools, sunbeds and umbrellas, a spa and fitness center, piano bar, towel service at the pool and beach, an amphitheater for varied programs and shows, 5 tennis courts, a water and diving sports center on the beach, and a currency exchange. In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). If the occupancy is 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room, meaning the occupancy is 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

Guests of Bahia Principe Grand Coba can also use the à la carte restaurants of Bahia Principe Grand Tulum (CUN161), thus having access to a total of 10 restaurants. Additionally, there is a shuttle bus between the hotels, the conference rooms, and the golf course.
Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will gradually introduce an "Eco-Tax".
This requires every hotel room user in Mexico to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel, in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been implemented and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approx. 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the length of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often recorded in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local municipalities. This requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
