Location

The hotel, part of the PortoBay Group, is located above the Lido, separated from the sea only by the promenade. The city center is about 2.5 km away. A shopping center with numerous shops is located very close to the hotel. The airport is about 19 km away.

The comfortable 4-star hotel is located in the Vila Porto Mare holiday complex and has 146 studios and suites. It offers its guests a lobby with reception, elevator, 4 restaurants (including a buffet restaurant), 3 bars, and internet access (free of charge). The garden area features 2 swimming pools, a children's pool, a pool bar, and a sun terrace (sun loungers, towels, and umbrellas by the pool are included). All facilities of the Vila Porto Mare complex can be used.

Accommodation

Studio with side sea view

The studios are approx. 24-26 m² in size and have a combined living/sleeping area (2 single beds, 90x200 cm) with bath/WC, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, bathrobe, air conditioning, Smart TV, telephone, safe (incl.), Wi-Fi (included), desk, seating area, kitchenette (stove, microwave, and small refrigerator) and a balcony with a side sea view, which may be restricted depending on the location (S12). Can also be booked as a studio for single occupancy (S11).

Superior Studio with side sea view

Equipped like the studios, but slightly larger at approx. 34-40 m² (US2). Can also be booked as a Superior Studio for single occupancy (US1).
Also bookable as a Studio Superior Type O (SOU) with limited availability and at a special price.

Junior Suite with side sea view

They have the same amenities as the studios, but are slightly larger at approx. 38-44 m² and consist of a living room and a separate bedroom (with 2 single beds) separated by a sliding door (JS2). Can be booked as a Junior Suite for single occupancy (JS1).
Also bookable as a Junior Suite Type O with limited availability and at a special price (JSA).

Buffet style. If guests wish to dine in one of the à la carte restaurants, they will receive a credit of €17 per person per dinner. Currently, 3 à la carte restaurants are open: "Alfama" (Mediterranean), "Il Basilico" (Italian), and the new "Horta" restaurant (healthy comfort food/Wednesday-Sunday).

Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos vantage point, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then proceed to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional basket sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – Black Scabbardfish – is caught). Continue via Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), and then the route follows the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, we ascend to the high plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. A lunch break will be taken here. The return journey will be via the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we ascend via the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Then descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched-roof houses. A lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us to the Botanical Garden after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada walk (difficulty: easy), which is famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
