Location

The Riu Palace Zanzibar is a luxury hotel with an excellent location directly on Nungwi Beach, one of the island's most beautiful white sandy beaches. The island's airport and Zanzibar City, the capital with the historic center of Stone Town, are about an hour's drive away. Numerous restaurants and bars are just a few minutes' walk away.

Facilities

The luxury hotel (adults only from 18 years old - until 31.10.) at the northern tip of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago, has 236 rooms and suites, a lobby with a reception (24h), restaurants (steakhouse, fish, etc.), 5 bars, shops, and a wellness center.
The spacious outdoor area features 4 pools and a relaxation pool in the spa area. Guests can also relax in the hotel's garden area in tropical weather. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included by the pools and on the beach.
From November 1, 25, it is no longer an "adults only" hotel.

Junior Suite (JS2)

The spacious rooms (approx. 45m²) are equipped with a toilet/shower, hairdryer, telephone (for a fee), TV, central air conditioning, safe, minibar, and a balcony or terrace (JS2). From November 1, 25, sea view can be booked for an additional charge.

With the same amenities as the Junior Suites, the Suites are more spacious (S2).
Also available as a Superior Suite with sea view (UM2) for an additional charge.

Junior Suite Courtyard (JGB)

Equipped like the Junior Suites, slightly smaller with a view of the garden/courtyard (JGB).

Beach Villa (V12)

Bookable for ages 18 and over only. The Beach Villas are approx. 90 m² and feature a 200x200 cm bed, a sofa bed in the living area, a whirlpool, satellite TV, air conditioning, kettle, safe, and a private pool with sun loungers on the terrace.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served buffet-style. Dinner can also be enjoyed in an à la carte restaurant (these are open on alternating days - reservation required in advance). Snacks available during the day, coffee/tea and pastries in the afternoon. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to the All Inclusive menu are included from 10 am to midnight at the open bars. Imported beverages and all other extras, such as freshly squeezed fruit juices, are subject to a charge.

The lack of authorisation is not due to specific safety problems with the individual airlines, but rather to the inspection and safety procedures of the Tanzanian aviation authority, which do not currently meet the safety requirements of the EU.
However, the airlines that we use for domestic flights (for example, for transfer flights from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania) are subject to the international safety assessment ISSA of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) or a comparable safety assessment. These assessments correspond to the globally recognised safety standards of the aviation industry.
